My Actions
1. Prioritise essential activities in my daily life
As mentioned in the previous post, recognizing the importance of my fundamental needs offers numerous advantages in my daily life. For example, acknowledging the necessity of ample rest and adhering to a consistent waking routine empowers me to tackle my daily responsibilities with heightened focus and vitality. Similarly, prioritizing a well-balanced diet abundant in essential nutrients has resulted in tangible enhancements to my overall well-being. While the benefits weren’t immediately apparent upon adopting this dietary regimen, my body gradually responded positively. Symptoms associated with hay fever and eczema diminished over time, and my reliance on antihistamine medication significantly decreased compared to before. Moreover, I now find it easier to maintain a steady wake-up schedule, a task that previously posed challenges when my diet consisted of high-sugar and high-fat foods.
Furthermore, nurturing connections with family and close friends represents another vital aspect of my life. Despite currently residing in a different country due to work commitments, I actively cultivate these relationships through regular visits, phone conversations, and frequent online communication. These deliberate actions serve to reinforce our bonds and sustain our connection despite the physical distance that separates us.
2. Keep my reading habit
As mentioned in the previous post, the habit of reading has long-term great impacts on my life, such as financial security, as I started to have more choices and control of my life by applying the knowledge into real life. Reading also introduced me to the concepts of minimalism and essentialism, as mentioned before, that changed my life in a positive way. Before reading those books, I was living in another world, just following how most people behave normally. By reading books, I have been exposed to the wisdom of authors and have been able to explore more useful concepts that I could apply to my daily life. This is like a shortcut to making my life better because I couldn’t have as many experiences as the authors do in my short life or at my young age. Absorbing more helpful knowledge by reading is an effective way to upgrade my brain and likely make smarter and better decisions. Without reading more books, I’m likely to keep living my life by default rather than designing my own life, including better financial management and more spacious living space without hoarding too many unnecessary material possessions. Thus, I will keep reading something interesting and beneficial every day.
3. Reflect on things from more than one aspect
Seeing one thing from more than one aspect is important to understand that thing more comprehensively without bias. For example, I can view the influence of my biological family in a few different ways. As mentioned before in the previous post, I left home to study and work abroad when I realised that I couldn’t change the situation. Of course, the influence on me was negative, and I was frustrated. However, from another aspect, I have an opportunity to explore a new lifestyle and more working potentialities in another country. Similarly, looking back at those conflict events of my parents from another aspect, I appreciate that I have never been physically abused. Instead, my basic needs were always met, and I had sufficient food and clothing through my childhood. I could also access my room during annual home visits. When reflecting on one thing from different aspects, I am aware of its importance, as this keeps my mind clear and prevents me from judging one thing too biasedly. This would help me see things more comprehensively.
